The June 2, 2009 edition of News of Note focused on the strengthened affiliation between the Texas Heart Institute (THI) and The University of Texas System (UTS). Concluding an agreement of this magnitude is attributable to the interest, commitment and dedication of representatives of both institutions. 

The governing boards of THI and UTS merit high praise for their vision and support of a strengthened affiliation. The executive teams should also be commended for their zeal and resourcefulness in creating an agreement that will benefit both organizations. 

In addition to those cited in the June 2 News of Note, we wish to acknowledge two more representatives of UTS. The First Amended Affiliation Agreement would not have been possible without the tireless and outstanding efforts of Dr. Randa S. Safady, Vice Chancellor for External Relations, and Mr. Barry D. Burgdorf, Vice Chancellor and General Counsel. We extend our deepest gratitude.
