Humor, graciousness, and continuing generosity
Charles and Melissa Davis visited the Texas Heart Institute in December, 2012.
Out of gratitude for the care Mr. Davis received from THI physicians, Dr. Mark Schnee and Dr. David Ott, the Davises made a generous gift to help identify and knock out the most dangerous genes that cause heart attacks, heart failure, sudden death, high blood pressure, strokes, and valvular heart disease.
Their visit afforded a welcome opportunity for Dr. Denton A. Cooley, THI founder and president emeritus, and Dr. James T. Willerson, THI president and medical director, to thank the Davises who expressed pleasure that their success could be used to help others.
Charles Davis, who founded Davis Chevrolet in 1959, said that he was pleased to make the gift and said he would also bequeath support for THI programs in his will. "Don't worry," Davis quipped, "There will be more in my will, and you won't have to wait long. I'm 96 years old—thanks to THI."
Humor, graciousness and generosity in the service of others. We are grateful and proud to be associated with Charles and Melissa Davis.
