Coronary Artery Anomalies

The Coronary Artery Anomalies Center (CAAC) was established to stimulate the study and discussion of coronary artery anomalies and to facilitate the exchange of information in this field.

Announcement of a New Section: Coronary Artery Anomalies Forum in the Texas Heart Institute Journal volume 31:3.

Summaries of the proceedings of the first event on coronary artery anomalies organized by our group at the Texas Heart Institute in March 2002 were published in the November 2002 issue of the Texas Heart Institute Journal. These proceedings include basic-science discussions regarding the morphogenesis of the coronary arteries and also clinical discussions on coronary anomalies.

Clinical Activities

The Center's trained staff will be able to receive and share clinical cases, for diagnostic or therapeutic discussion with the Center's experts in the field. Physicians with particularly interesting cases may be encouraged to submit case reports to the Texas Heart Institute Journal  for a special section dedicated to this subject.

Physicians click here for an invitation to participate and how to submit case reports to this Center (Acrobat document).

Patients may click here to send an e-mail inquiry for more information from this Center

Research

A new society, the Society for the Study of Coronary Artery Anomalies, is being created with multiple objectives.

Periodically, the Society, through its website and by other means, will promote:

  • discussion of new protocols for prospective multicenter studies of individual coronary anomalies.
  • participation of all Society members in multicenter studies.
  • publication of the results of new studies on its website in a preliminary, informal version, in expectation that a formal printed version will be published in an established medical journal. Click here for manuscript preparation guidelines (see page 7) in Acrobat format.

In addition, the Society will organize, support, and publicize professional meetings on specific subjects in the field of coronary anomalies.
