Ask a Texas Heart Institute Doctor

Question:
Does my cardiomyopathy mean another pregnancy is out of the question? After I had my baby they diagnosed me with cardiomypathy and told me I couldn't have anymore children. Is it possible for me to have another child if I went to a high-risk pregnancy center? What are my options to have another child?

It is highly likely that a peripartum cardiomyopathy would re-occur with another pregnancy. The precipitating factor probably is an immune reaction. I would advise against another pregnancy.
