Question:
What is the hardest part of transplant surgery? My number 1 question is what is the hardest part about heart transplant surgery?

Answer:
by Texas Heart Institute cardiovascular surgeon, Denton A. Cooley, MD
The most difficult part of heart transplant surgery is finding a suitable, compatible donor. This implies that a tragedy must occur, and then a host of actions and communications must follow. Once the transplant operation has been performed, controlling the natural rejection process is the greatest challenge.
