Ask a Texas Heart Institute Doctor
Informed patients make better patients.

Question:

Can high cholesterol cause one to feel sluggish or gain weight?

I had a hysterectomy in 2004. I always feel sluggish, gaining weight, and was just told my cholesterol is too high. Always feel weird, no motivation, should I be concerned?

Ask a Texas Heart Institute Doctor

High cholesterol in and of itself is not likely to cause one to feel sluggish and gain weight. More frequently, obesity, lack of exercise, and poor dietary choices can cause one to feel sluggish and have high cholesterol. As a result, lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise can improve weight, cholesterol, and one's energy level.
