Question:
Can I see my family doctor for a woman's baseline heart tests?
I am a 51 year old female in good health. I am Vegan, I run 25 miles a week and weight train. I want to get all of the baseline tests done on my heart just so I will know if all is well. Can I see my family doctor for these tests or do I need to contact a different type of doc?

Answer:
by Texas Heart Institute cardiologist, George Younis, MD
A 51 year old athletic woman with no medical problems, without a strong family history of heart disease or smoking history, can typically be screened with baseline levels by a family doctor without need for further investigations.
