Question:

Would I be a candidate for stem cell clinical trials?

I have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and my ejection fraction is currently at 45%. Would I be a candidate for the stem cell test trial research?

submitted by Jeannie from Chattanooga, Tennessee on 1/30/2012

Answer:

Dear Jeannie,

Patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy are not being enrolled in stem cell trials at this time. Only patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (that have had heart attacks or stents/bypass surgery). Hope that helps.
