Ask a Texas Heart Institute Doctor
Informed patients make better patients.

Question:

How long does it take to get results of an echocardiogram?

I had a bubble echo cardiograph 3 weeks ago, but not had the results. How long do they usually take?

submitted by Susan from United Kingdom 7/31/2013

Answer:

Raymond F. Stainback, MDby Texas Heart Institute cardiologist, Raymond F. Stainback, MD

The results of this test are usually evident at the time of the exam so this may be a delay in interpretation or in communication of the results. Follow up with your doctor who ordered the test.

Texas Heart Institute Heart Information Center
Through this community outreach program, staff members of the Texas Heart Institute (THI) provide educational information related to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. It is not the intention of THI to provide specific medical advice, but rather to provide users with information to better understand their health and their diagnosed disorders. Specific medical advice will not be provided and THI urges you to visit a qualified physician for diagnosis and for answers to your questions.
