CME Information - Overview

This presentation reviews presently available percutaneous treatments for aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation. Emphasis is on the identification of the best candidates for such interventions. The risks of these therapies are addressed.

Target Audience
This continuing medical education activity is intended for cardiologists, physicians, and cardiovascular surgeons with an interest in the latest developments and potential future enhancements for the repair or replacement of mitral and aortic valves using percutaneous techniques.

Method of Instruction / Participation
This enduring material comprises slide sets with text and audio derived from a live cardiology grand rounds presentation with post activity assessment and evaluation.

Educational Objectives

The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge. At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to –

  • Identify patients best suited for transcatheter therapy for mitral regurgitation.
  • Identify patients who are candidates for percutaneous aortic valve replacements. 
  • Recognize the risks of percutaneous valve interventions.
