CME Information - Overview

This presentation discusses the medical management and radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation. Topics include the critical role of ventricular dysfunction and structural heart disease in determining how to manage patients with atrial fibrillation and the risks and benefits of both pharmacologic therapy and radiofrequency ablation.

Educational Objectives
The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge. At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to-

  • Summarize the risks and benefits of pharmacologic therapy for atrial fibrillation.
  • Summarize the risks and benefits of radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation.
  • Discuss the role of ventricular dysfunction in determining how to manage atrial fibrillation.

Target Audience
The intended audience for this continuing medical education activity includes cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and physicians or other healthcare providers who are involved in diagnosing and treating atrial fibrillation.

Method of Instruction / Participation
This enduring material comprises slide sets with text and audio derived from a live cardiology grand rounds presentation with post activity assessment and evaluation.
