The Elnita McClain Women’s Center officially formed in 1993 by Bishop John Bryant and Rev. Cee after Mrs Elnita McClain dedicated her home to the 10th District Women’s Missionary Society (WMS).
In 2008, with the blessings of Supervisor Rev. Jessica Ingram, a local Board of Directors was organized to implement programs and services through the Elnita McClain Women’s Center to be led by the Episcopal District WMS 2nd Vice President, Shamra Hodge.
Under the Episcopal Leadership of Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie and Supervisor Stan McKenzie, the Elnita McClain Women’s Center provides ongoing health and social awareness programs and offers shared office space for collaborative social service agencies.
Since 2011, the Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health has partnered with the 10th Episcopal District WMS Elnita McClain Women’s Center at their annual fashion show and luncheon during Heart Month to educate district members and their communities. Today, THI collaborates on important screening initiatives and wellness projects.
