The Texas Heart Institute Women’s Center

March 13 | 12:54 pm CDT

Encouraging healthier women.

Texas Heart Institute’s Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health was created to help educate women about their true risks and to encourage them to take ownership of their cardiovascular health by living a heart-healthy lifestyle. Our Center is committed to working with women to provide access to current and comprehensive educational materials, online assessment tools and health news.

THI’s Women’s Center supports the Institute’s research and education mission in multiple ways, including a translational research program, Annual Women’s Heart & Vascular Symposium, the annual THI Journal Special Section – Cardiovascular Disease in Women, e-newsletters, heart health screenings, a speakers bureau, educational programs for young girls, community lectures and support groups for women. Through these efforts, the Center has established unparalleled trust and strong relationships with the diverse Houston community and beyond. All programs aim to reach more women and professionals taking care of women to positively impact the cardiovascular health of our community.

WomenHeart Houston is a support group providing peer-to-peer patient support and education for women living with heart disease. This kind of support is crucial to a woman’s recovery and well being, and that of her family.

The national coalition, WomenHeart, has found that through its peer-led networks, women are better able to make well-informed decisions about their health and care based upon the educational programming and emotional support these networks provide. Join us at an upcoming WomenHeart Houston group meeting to learn more!

Texas Heart Institute – a proud member of WomenHeart’s National Hospital Alliance program – has partnered with WomenHeart to support women cardiac patients by serving as the host site for the WomenHeart Houston chapter.

WomenHeart Houston is the first support group in the Texas Medical Center for women living with heart and vascular disease and meetings are free of charge and open to all, regardless of where treatment is received.
