A Memorable Match Day at Texas Heart Institute
Houston, Texas— (December 5, 2019)— The Texas Heart Institute (THI), Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center honors the legacy of Dr. Denton A. Cooley by supporting the education and research missions of THI.
Since its founding in 1965, the teaching faculty consists of respected cardiologists and subspecialty cardiologists — many trained under the leadership of Dr. Denton A. Cooley and THI President Emeritus Dr. James T. Willerson.
“Our teaching faculty provide a sophisticated and highly focused training environment that makes our program truly outstanding,” said Dr. Stephanie Coulter, Fellowship Program Director.
The Texas Heart Institute fellowship training program attracts some of the best and brightest clinical physicians from top-tier medical training programs around the country. This year was no exception, with over 750 exceptional candidates applying for six competitive general cardiology fellowship positions.
The fellowship match is a career-changing, milestone event for these doctors aspiring to become a specialist in heart care. We have a dedicated interview committee of cardiologists and a rigorous selection process that matches the best fellows for our program year after year,” added Fellowship Program Associate Director George Younis, MD.
The new class will join their colleagues at THI in the summer of 2020.
