June 2-4 2022

Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the School of Perfusion Technology

The 2022 meeting will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Texas Heart Institute School of Perfusion Technology founded by world-renowned surgeon Denton A. Cooley, M.D.  Because of his early vision, THI has prepared thousands of cardiovascular perfusionists working in operating rooms around the world today.

Upholding the Texas Heart Institute’s mission, the perfusion school is presently thriving with 24 students in training across the U.S. Since its opening in 1971, more than 900 students have graduated from the program. Many of those graduates were mentored by our cardiologists and cardiac surgeons who have embraced the essential role perfusionists play in operating the heart-lung machine and other ancillary devices to support patients who require cardiac care.
