Electrophysiology is one of the fastest-growing areas of medicine. This specialty field of cardiology took off in the 1990s when cardiologists started conducting the first cardiac ablations treating abnormal circuits in the heart by cauterizing or freezing. The Texas Heart Institute physicians led this seminal work in the treatment of ablations.
