Lone Star Lyric’s 18th summer festival of lyric theater explores the work of Houston-based composer J. Todd Frazier. Breath of Life is inspired by an early heart transplant procedure performed in Houston, TX, and based on real events, people, and situations.
Breath of Life is a story about medical advances meeting unprecedented ethical and spiritual challenges through this most dramatic and transformative procedure – a heart transplant. Learn more about the story through the five-part interview series with Houston-based composer J. Todd Frazier.

Nora’s Home offers solid organ transplant patients and their families an affordable place to stay in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) where they can find support and share experiences with others, in the comfort of a home-like environment. The home is located 2.5 miles from the TMC and serves patients suffering from end-stage organ disease and facing the need for life-saving transplant surgery. Medical care often requires families to travel far from home, and many patients awaiting transplants, undergoing surgery, or having follow-up care must stay in Houston for many months. We are proud to have welcomed guests from 38 states and five other countries.
