Overview:
Dr. van Diepen will discuss the evolution of patient care, staffing and training from CCU to CICU.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of the activity a participant should be able to:
- Highlight the changing CICU patient acuity and complexity.
- Propose new staffing CICU models and review supporting evidence.
- Illustrate maintaining competence and educational pathways for trainees.
- Summarize evidence to support moving away from historical admission practices.
