Question:

Can someone have mitral valve prolapse years ago and not now?

Hi, I was told I have mitral valve prolapse 5 years ago and a couple of days ago I did all the tests –ecg and echocardiogram didn’t show anything. Does it mean I don’t have anything wrong with my heart? Thank you.

Hi Bruno, Mitral valve prolapse may be seen or heard at some times, but not seen or heard at others, especially if it’s mild. As long as there is no significant valve leakage evident on echo, there is really not any major concern.
