Can vascular necrosis cause a heart attack?

Most heart attacks occur as a result of a blood clot critically obstructing or completely blocking an artery in the heart, ie coronary artery. If the necrosis occurred in a coronary artery, it can definitely cause a heart attack. Thank you.
