Could Cardura be the cause of this patient’s CHF?
Patient is 80yr old male. Been on Cardura for 25+ yrs. Just diagnosed w/congestive heart failure. Research seems to indicate causality in elderly patients. Should he ask Doctor to discontinue or substitute?

Dear Steve,
It is unlikely that this is the cause for so-called CHF. A better definition is needed to know the cause of the CHF. Ask the patient’s doctor if the CHF is from Coronary Artery Disease, valvular heart disease, or another origin. The treatment can be adjusted accordingly, if needed.
