Jorge Escobar, MD

Dr. Escobar is a native of Colombia and completed his medical degree at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. He was honored with the Dean’s Letter of Recognition for High Academic Achievement while in medical school. He completed internal medicine residency training at The University of Texas Health Science Center where he consistently was recognized by his peers, winning the Resident of the Year Award. He completed a cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology fellowship at The Texas Heart Institute/Baylor College of Medicine in 2015. While there, he received The Texas Heart Institute Outstanding Fellow of the Year Award, being selected by the clinical staff for academic and clinical excellence. Following training, he went on to become Assistant Professor of Medicine at UT’s Center for Advanced Heart Failure at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He returned to practice at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and joined Texas Heart and Vascular Specialists before joining The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care. Dr. Escobar is proficient in both complex coronary and peripheral interventions. This includes the management of both arterial and venous disease.
