Texas Medical Center Luminaries Unite Around Vascular Science and Medicine

Dr. Stephanie Coulter, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Chief of Staff and Medical Director of the Women’s Center and FMD & Arterial Dissection Clinic at The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care, with colleagues across the Texas Medical Center is participating in the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) Vascular Scientific Sessions in Houston, TX, September 19-22, 2024, at the Marriott Marquis Houston.

This groundbreaking event in the field of vascular science includes an internationally recognized lineup of esteemed local luminaries to enlighten attendees on the latest research and advancements in vascular care.

The event is chaired by SVM President-Elect Elizabeth Ratchford, MD, Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Vascular Medicine. It unites clinicians and physician-scientist presenters from near and far, including Daniella Kadian-Dodov, MD, Dr. Coulter’s North American FMD Registry research collaborator.

This year, the program covers a wide range of topics. From sessions focusing on vascular oncology to workshops and lectures on hypertension, vascular disease in women, swollen legs, chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), peripheral artery disease (PAD), pulmonary embolism, Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to clinical management of acute and chronic pulmonary embolism, there will be a wealth of knowledge to absorb. The poster session featuring over 125 abstracts will showcase cutting-edge research from professionals in the field.

Several THI research collaborators will be speaking, including Dianna Milewicz, MD, PhD, from UTHealth McGovern Medical School, and Anita Deswal, MD, MPH, from MD Anderson Cancer Center, who will share their insights and expertise with attendees. Additionally, interactive sessions like “Cases on the Rocks” will provide a unique learning experience for participants.

Additional activities surrounding the event will include the Annual SVM 5K Walk/Fun Run, Vascular Jeopardy, and the Vascular Lab: The New Frontiers session led by Thanila Macedo, MD, from UTHealth and Emmanuel Urquieta, MD, MS, from the Translation Research Institute for Space Health.
