The Texas Heart Institute & Fit Houston to Present #WALK30 at the Healthier Texas Summit in Austin
HOUSTON (Aug. 22, 2023) — On Friday Oct. 6, The Texas Heart Institute and Fit Houston will come together at the Healthier Texas Summit to present the #WALK30 campaign. The presentation, called “What’s in a Nudge? Houston’s #WALK30 Health Campaign” is selected to be part of the Effective Health Communication track.
The #WALK30 campaign, spearheaded by The Texas Heart Institute and Fit Houston, aims to inspire Houstonians to walk for at least 30 minutes every day, showcasing the immense benefits of regular physical activity. By joining forces, these organizations aim to create a healthier City of Houston and surrounding counties, where individuals take charge of their own health and wellbeing.
The Healthier Texas Summit, an Initiative of It’s Time Texas, in collaboration with The University of Texas System, provides a unique platform for over 700 public health professionals, leaders and innovators to transform health in Texas through actionable system change.
This year’s summit will be held at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center at the University of Texas, located at 1900 University Avenue, Austin, Texas 78705.
Now in its seventh year, the Healthier Texas Summit has become the go-to event for experts, policymakers and community leaders who are passionate about health and wellness. This year’s theme, “Uniting to Transform the Health in Texas: Empowering Action for Systems Change,” aims to bring together diverse perspectives and drive statewide change.
Keri Sprung, Vice President for Education and Director of the Women’s Center for Heart & Vascular Health at the Texas Heart Institute, alongside Lharissa Jacobs, Founder and Executive Director of Fit Houston, will share their experiences and insights during the event.
The conference will feature four content tracks, each addressing crucial aspects of health transformation. These tracks include effective health communication, harnessing data, creating policy and environmental change through cross-sector collaboration, as well as advancing quality primary care through innovative strategies.
