May 3 | THI Innovators on the Global Stage at 10th Annual AUSii Forum

THI Professional Staff member, Dr. Billy Cohn, will inspire attendees at the Australian American Chamber of Commerce Houston 10th Annual AUSii Forum; Driving Innovation and Investment Between Australia and the US as this year’s invited Medical Keynote.

The AUSii Forum is the largest of its kind outside of Australia and brings together leaders from across corporate, startups, industry, academia and government. This year’s conference to be held May 3rd and will focus on key sectors of energy, medical and technology; sectors in which both the USA and Australia are leaders.

Dr. Cohn will bring his infectious passion for medical device development to this year’s program that has earned him more than 90 US patents granted or pending patents and another 60 international patents for medical innovations.

Since Dr. Cohn joined the Texas Heart Institute in 2004, his major research interests have included the development of new technology for decreasing the invasiveness of cardiac and vascular surgery and development of the continuous-flow totally implantable artificial heart.  In 2011, Dr. Cohn and Dr. O. H. Frazier successfully implanted the first pulseless total heart replacement device in a human patient.
