THI Medical Director Addresses Wearable Health Technology on National Stage
HOUSTON (Oct. 25, 2023)—The Texas Heart Institute’s Medical Director Emerson C. Perin, MD, PhD, recently contributed his research-driven thought leadership to the burgeoning national discussion on the benefits of wearable health technology.
As a panelist at Xtelligent Healthcare Media’s 4th Annual Connected Health Virtual Summit, Dr. Perin emphasized the importance of patients’ hands-on participation in monitoring their steps, heart rate, blood pressure, and even sleep. He noted that, when patients actively are involved in auditing their own vital signs and fitness data, they are much more likely to follow through on their physicians’ advice to eat healthier and exercise more.
